Keeping creative throughout a pandemic, anyone can do it!

Keeping creative throughout a pandemic, anyone can do it!

It’s been a while and I realised I have been so busy, juggling life, a pandemic and so many projects since the beginning of lockdown.

As a designer, artist and creative thinker, the pandemic throws up many feelings and reactions. For me it was instantly how can I help through art. My first was to design a tee shirt with a rainbow to thank the NHS with both mummy and me Tees, and a percentage of proceeds to go to NHS  and domestic abuse charities.Baby Love Rainbow Tees#nhs#covid#rainbow#babylove https://www.instagram.com/vintage_kit/

Whilst in the darkness of lockdown April /May we were in my farmhouse in Wales where I was busy reconnecting with the place I love the best… Nature!  Picking up my paintbrushes and painting landscapes in oil on wood.#artist#oil#nature.   https://www.instagram.com/katherinesdesigns/

But still feeling helpless I began to paint portraits for heroes on the NHS frontline.

Both rewarding and humbling.(some on a personal instagram page here to see; katherinesdesignshttps://www.instagram.com/katherinesdesigns/ ) If you would like to nominate anyone for me to paint please like this insta page and message me there!

Whilst designing new prints for SS2021, and obligatory mask making

and here my beautiful ballerina daughter modelling one!    https://www.instagram.com/natashalillytrigg/

We also decided to get a lock down puppy called Percy from a neighbouring farm, as our remaining dog Geronimo named after my son’s film company (follow here https://www.instagram.com/geronimoboyfilm/) (who was part of a trio) was now on his own so now he has a brother 🙂 strangely enough I drew Percy in one of my earlier

prints in 2008! I named it ‘Sad puppy’ Its uncanny!    #textiles#artist#

I was also freelance drawing a storyboard for a 5 star Hotel commercial in Singapore, and art production for a music video for the band The Foxes (instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/iamfoxes/ )

Today the 5th of October would have been my mothers 85th birthday but Sadly in the latter half of lockdown I lost my beautiful mother, words cannot begin to get through this. And yet I know I am not alone in this but again focusing on creating really does help to cope. I was asked to do my mothers headstone, which I decided on an image of Jesus in mosaic. It was truly a way for me to say thank you to my mummy. #mosaic#artist#thankyou

I really hope that this can help and inspire anyone who is having a tough time through this age we are living in, and please feel free to message me if you want any one to talk to or just general encouragement to pick up a pencil and start creating! e mail…. vintagekit@me.com and I will always reply! or tweet me at https://twitter.com/vintagekit

Love Katherine xxxx

P.S.I am still taking commissions xx
